Business Development Manager – Government Programs

 

We are seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) who will be responsible for building customer relationships among key and target accounts for the Federal Government division of our company. The BDM will develop new and profitable opportunities while growing business with existing key customers. The role requires strategic thinking, tactical excellence, internal and external communication, and a passion for driving growth. The BDM will leverage our existing technical success as developers to dramatically increase the company’s footprint in the Federal Government, including DoD. The successful candidate should contribute sophisticated understanding of acquisition processes, cycles, priorities, funding vehicles, and chain of command. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create new qualified targets offerings within the Federal Government
  • Develop a rich understanding of agency priorities, contract cycles, and funding mechanisms
  • Identify and engage with key stakeholders and decision makers within target customers, leveraging existing experience and contacts in the ecosystem
  • Deliver value throughout the entire sales cycle, including qualifying, presenting, leading RFP responses, the closing process, and post-sales contracting process
  • Collaborate and co-sell strategic partners and consultants
  • Develop a deep understanding of company products, market trends, customer needs and pain points, and the competitive landscape
  • Work with Division management to develop annual and quarterly sales plans and strategic accounts plans and then drive profitable sales growth according to these plans
  • Employ customer analysis and capture strategies to establish customer partnerships
  • Utilize CRM reporting; collect and communicate appropriate metrics and market data to internal stakeholders and leadership
  • Provide regular status updates regarding lead generation, pipeline progression, ongoing opportunities and overall progress in meeting business development goals for the division
  • Collaborate with our marketing resources to deploy a coordinated multimedia marketing plan
  • Identify key events for our company and represent the company
  • Able to travel at least 25% of the time
  • U.S. Citizenship required per federal contract  

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience selling complex software solutions and research & development services to government agencies and other select sectors.
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-organized and efficient
  • Creative talents and the ability to solve tough problems
  • Skill in prioritizing and triaging obligations
